The objective was to assess the mycotoxin binding effect of Safwall BI on the intestinal absorption of the Ochratoxin A using an in vivo experimental model with broiler chickens.
The intestinal absorption of OTA was assessed by the blood plasma level, the kidney tissue content and bile concentrations in OTA. After an adaptation period, the animals received the mycotoxin and either a control or the supplemented compound for seven days (@ 500g/ton). At the end of the experimental period blood were sampled, kidney and bile were taken for OTA analysis. Location: university of Utrecht (Netherlands), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Division
The results showed a reduction of 66% of the plasmatic concentration of OTA (p<0,05) and of 20% of OTA accumulation in kidney (p<0,05) compared to control fed animals. A same effect in reduction of OTA concentration was observed in the bile.
hese results demonstrate that SAWALL BI has significant effects on kinetic parameters of OTA digestive absorption. It then lowers the systemic
availability of OTA following exposure to contaminated feed.
Yeast cell wall materials obtained by the autolysis of a selected strain of a Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast.
The selected saccharomyces cerevisiae is grown on a medium rich in carbohydrate sugar. After the cell lyse, the insoluble material which consist of yeast cell wall is separated. It is then spray-dried which preserves the characteristics of the product. The yeast cream processing and the high yielding separation process are fully specific and lead to a very stable and consistent yeast cell wall content rich in beta-glucan and mannan.
SAFWALL BI® is intended to be used in complete feed for all animal species during the whole life of the animals. It can also be supplemented in premixtures and complementary feed.
The current recommended doses of inclusion are rating from 0.250 kg/ton to 0.500 kg/ton of complete feed. In case of need SAFWALL BI® can be used up to 1 kg/ton.
Yeast products from Saccharomyces cerevisiae species are recognized as safe: status QPS (Qualified presumption of safety).
